Albert Dali Names Aibono

What do you call a company that is not a company but more of a movement? What do you call an enterprise that is more tech than agriculture? What do you call a venture that fuses artificial intelligence with native wisdom? What do you call a startup that's here to change the fate of farming in South Asia? When Airwood Aerostructures got in touch with us for re-branding, we had a lot to mull over and plenty to achieve with just 2 or 3 syllables. Fortunately for us, we had a clear headed founder who wanted anything but a safe name. With innumerable filters that included global availability and trademarkability, what we set out to achieve was to distill the essence of the brand in one word. AIBONO does that and more elegantly.

Being a coined name derived from English and Latin (also French), Aibono leverages the power of AI (Artificial Intelligence) to achieve bono (Latin for good). Given the spirit of the brand was about harnessing technology for the greater common good, this kinda resonated well. It also helped that Aibono and Airwood had the same legacy initials. But what really clinched it for Aibono was the seed of possibilities that lay within. Here was a soft sounding name that felt very untechie and at the same time, it rolled off the mouth as if it were a first person intro 'I Bono'. Considering we wished to establish the brand as a farmer's friend, the Bono nickname came in handy. And that also gave us the clue to create a quirky brand mascot that will hopefully endear himself to all farmers.

The naming journey that led to Aibono was a truly immersive 60-day experience that has possibly given India, its first global brand in smart farming.

Note: The logo and mascot design was by the amazing Gopi Prasanna.

Albert Dali names Yooniko

Metamorph Corporation,, an American enterprise approached Albert Dali for naming their new personal brand management platform. The name had to be dot-comable and trademarkable in the US market. And it had to capture the essence of personal branding. We developed many exciting options. After multiple rounds of discussions, the client flipped for Yooniko as it exemplified the shortest story of their offering. The emphasis on uniqueness with an exotic oriental sounding name also appealed to their sensibilities.

Albert Dali Names Hobbistan

Happy Labs approached us to name an app that gives you a clear picture of all that's happening in your city. It was a third-party project for Palpro Technolologies, a Coimbatore-based client. The 'local happenings app' category is fairly cluttered with leaders such as Eventbrite, Thrillist, Gravy and Localmind. Instead of making it an event-centric app, we recommended creating a community around hobbies because all that users were searching could be correlated to their inner desire to kindle an interest. Since the land of origin of the app was India, we recommended an Indian sounding English name. Hobbistan was the result. Hobbistan is the place to pursue whatever fascinates you. It's Indian. It's international. And has IP available across the world. The app is available for download at the Google Play Store.

Albert Dali names Menterra

Villgro, the social business incubator, got in touch with us to develop a trademarkable, dot-com-able name for their impact fund with a focus on son-of-the-soil ventures in the fields of agriculture, energy, healthcare and skilling. Since the fund not just provided financial support but also mentoring, we decided to coin a new word to reflect the character of the company. Menterra is a portmanteau derived from Mentoring + Terra (Latin for 'earth'). The name cues the international character of the fund and yet is rooted to supporting ideas connected with the land. The simple and soulful logo was developed by Senior Art Director KN Balakrishnan.

Albert Dali names Cozium

A Tiruppur-based start up handled by Happy Labs got in touch with us to develop a trademark-able, dot-com-able name for a range of premium bed linen. Given the core brand promise of comfort, we coined the name 'Cozium' (a noun form of Coziness) to give it an international feel. In a category dominated by Bombay Dyeing, Portico, Raymomd, Truhome, and Tangerine, it did feel strikingly different and particularly softer. 'That cozy feeling' was captured elegantly in the logo unit with the creation of the 'God of Coziness' who surrounds himself with a feather blanket. The logo was developed by Jey Anand and his talented team at Happy Labs.

Albert Dali names Tygiene

A Kochi based start up that's into water tank cleaning solutions was looking for a stand out name in the category. In a space with a surfeit of descriptive names, we explored the coined name territory. Since the client was in the business of Tank Hygiene and offered end to end solutions, Total Hygiene or Tygiene made eminent sense. CP Sajith, the master art director, helped sculpt a classy logo for the brand.

Albert Dali gives Wakau its visual identity...

India's first celebrity video blogging platform Wakau will soon make its way into millions of mobile phones in India. The visual identity for Wakau was developed by Albert Dali. The 'stylised play button encasing a retro style W' was the visual shorthand we developed for the brand. The app icon we recommended had a more glazed look to it.

Here's the promotion video for the brand:

Albert Dali brands Boonbox

The e-commerce arm of Inthree Access has been branded as 'Boonbox' by Albert Dali Naming Consultants. Targeted at Tier 2 towns and hard-to-reach rural areas of India, Boonbox will focus on markets with low speed internet connectivity. The mobile phone would serve as the access point for consumers and Boonbox would aim to make their wish come true by delivering just the right products. The service is being rolled out first in Tamil Nadu and then the brand will go pan-national. Boonbox is an evocative 2-syllable name that captures the brand promise of 'whatever, wherever'. The 'magic box' is the app icon and brand mnemonic we chose for Boonbox. The red and black colours were handpicked for maximizing readability on the cartons.

Albert Dali brands The Gaudium School

What do you name an international school built around the theme of happiness? We handpicked the Latin word for 'joy' and added a snooty prefix to make it sound even more premium. The Gaudium is a 27-acre school located in Kollur, Hyderabad. Given our mandate of readying a trademarkable, dot comable name, the name worked out really well. Instead of a literal visual interpretation of the name, we opted for the 'flying colours' as our visual identity. With red standing for passion, blue representing freedom, and gold cueing success. The fluttering flag is a very contemporary graphic unit as compared to the classic style emblem that most schools flaunt. We consciously chose a modern global identity to stand out from the crowd.

Albert Dali names Sports Cult

In a country with no sporting culture, when a brave start up sets out to build the nuts and bolts for creating professional sportsmen and women, how do you name it? We chose 'Sports Cult' as it resonated best with client's mission. Fortunately, TSB Sports from Hyderabad, lapped it up. The 'winged athlete' visual identity we designed for 'Sports Cult' is a personification of the dare-to-dream nature of our target group who wish to launch their careers in professional sport.

The Man Who Gave Us Goli Soda

The Goli Soda is not an Indian invention. It was the brainchild of Hiram Codd, an English engineer who realized in 1872, that inserting and capturing a marble in the neck of a bottle would provide a new and effective way of sealing mineral water and soda bottles without corks or external stoppers. Go here, for more about Hiram.

Albert Dali Names Brick Eagle

What do you call a real estate private equity fund that's hands-on and yet is very much a big picture player? At Albert Dali, we thought Brick Eagle would be an appropriate name. And so was born Brick Eagle Capital Advisory. Founded by Wharton educated Rajesh Krishnan and backed by quite a few NRIs, we feel, this company is bound to soar.
